Travis Wheeler is an American artist based in Portland, Oregon. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Northern Michigan University with a concentration in illustration. He’s been making art in various mediums for over 20 years.
Originally beginning as a landscape painter because of his love for nature and hiking, he focused on painting and drawing in Yosemite National Park. After a number of years in the High Sierras he relocated to Portland to pursue his interest in hand lettering and mural making. There he began designing signs, murals, and logos for small and large businesses alike.
From large companies like KEEN footwear and Chris King Precision Components to local bands such as Hippie Death Cult, Travis has become an extremely versatile hand lettering artist and muralist. His art work can be found in every corner of Portland. From your favorite bars and restaurants like Wedgehead Pinball Lounge and Holy Ghost Bar to large scale murals in his own neighborhood of Foster-Powell in Southeast he intends to cover as much of the city in paint and ink as he possibly can.
As a tattooist he loves to do black and grey realism as well as lettering projects of all kinds. Although, he enjoys a challenge and will be happy to adapt your personal ideas and style to skin as well.
